Now and always CHEVRON… or what?

If there were a decorative motif to be elected as the most widespread in space and time, it would certainly be CHEVRON.

Those who do not know it by this name may call it ZIG-ZAG, herringbone, tweed or – if they are architects – they may call it French herringbone to define the laying of parquet floors. In fact, there are innumerable ways of calling this pattern, which is universally used in every sphere of human activity: from architectural coverings to weaving, from ceramics to basket weaving, from classical painting back to the origins of rock art.

Geometric rhythms of a timeless style, which finds one of its most interesting expressions in guilloché engravings.
